— Police Officer Injured in Road Accident at Wiamoase_Mampong stretch

 

Wiamoase, Ashanti Region – A tragic accident occurred on the Wiamoase–Mampong road, leaving a police officer in critical condition.

Briefing the media, the Ashanti North Regional Mttd Commander ASP Mr Seidu Wakinani explained that ,LCPL Gideon Okyere, attached to the Police Investigation Department under the Ashanti North Police Command, was struck by an onward Citron private car with registration number GW 3361_A on Boanim_ Mprim stretch.

Eyewitnesses report that the driver veered off his lane while negotiating a sharp curve and collided with the officer on a motorcycle with a registration number M_22_GR5801 on early hours of Wednesday.

Emergency responders rushed him to the Wiamoase Salvation Army Hospital, where he is currently receiving intensive medical care.

Currently the driver,Mr Charles Marfo is in the custody of the Ashanti North Police Command assisting them with an investigation.
Reports indicates that, the driver absconded when the incident happened but was been chased off by the police and was later apprehended.

Residents of Wiamoase and Mampong have expressed concern over the increasing rate of road accidents in the area, calling for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and improved road safety measures.

Police officials have urged the public to remain calm and assured that updates will be provided as investigations progress.
