Tragedy Strikes Asante Mampong: Thunderstorm Claims Two Lives in Akyeremade

Asante Mampong, Ghana – December 15, 2025

A severe thunderstorm that swept through the Akyeremade community in Asante Mampong on Sunday evening has tragically claimed the lives of two residents, leaving the town in mourning and raising concerns about weather preparedness in the region.

According to eyewitnesses, the storm began around 5:30 p.m. with strong winds,and intense lightning.

The victim, identified as a Victoeia 28-year-old and a mother of two died along with her 5-year-old son as they were been reportedly struck by lightning while gathering pieces of charcoals at the bush.

Local authorities and emergency services responded swiftly, but both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Speaking Mr Nkrumah Adasah the Assembly Member of the area stated that, the deceased is unmarried and doesn’t stay with any relative apart from her kids therefore it had become difficult to trace her background but he was highly enthused that they would be a headway
