Passport fee reduced to GH₵350: 30% cut effective November 13

The price for obtaining a Ghanaian passport is poised to decrease notably following the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ announcement of a 30% cut in the regular application fee.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa declared on Sunday, November 9, 2025, that Ghanaians will start paying a new, lowered fee of GH₵350, down from the former price of GH₵500.

The updated fee system will be implemented across the country on Thursday, November 13, 2025

The reduction in fees is a component of the government’s initiative to lessen the financial strain on citizens and enhance access to vital public services, fulfilling a previous commitment to make travel documentation more affordable.

In a Facebook post, Minister Ablakwa mentioned that the change is also intended to motivate more citizens to acquire valid travel documents via official channels.

This action aims to effectively deter the involvement of intermediaries and unapproved representatives who frequently take advantage of applicants. The updated GH₵350 charge will be applicable to all regular application services at every Passport Application Centre (PAC) throughout the country.

The Ministry anticipates that reducing the cost of obtaining passports will coincide with the government’s larger aim of lowering the expenses of vital services for Ghanaians
