DISPENSING OPTICS FINAL YEAR STUDENTS BEMOAN DELAYED LICENSURE RESULTS
Final year students of Dispensing Optics at Oyoko in the Sekyere Kumawu District of Asante Region have voiced their growing frustrations over the prolonged delay in the
release of their licensure examination results.
The students, who sat for the exams under the auspices of the Allies Health Science and Professional Council (AHSPC), say the delay is jeopardizing their future and professional aspirations.
Mis Sammuella Tweneboah Kodua a victim of the said circumstances addressing the media in a press conference, made a passionate appeal to the Minister of Health Hon Kwabena Mintah Akandoh to as a matter of urgency intervene to help ignite the release of their results.
AHSPC must expedite the release of the results, which they say have been pending for months without clear communication or updates from the Council.
> “We have waited patiently, but the silence is deafening. “Our careers are on hold, and we cannot proceed with our internships or job applications without our licensure.”
The licensure examination is a critical milestone for Dispensing Optics students, as it qualifies them to practice professionally in the healthcare sector. Many of the affected students say they are now facing uncertainty, financial strain, and emotional distress due to the delay.
Student leaders have urged the Council to provide a definitive timeline for the release and the reason for the delayed results and improve transparency in the examination process.
> “We understand the importance of thorough assessment,” another student added, “but we also deserve timely communication and respect for our future.”
As the healthcare sector continues to grapple with staffing shortages, stakeholders warn that such delays could have broader implications for service delivery and public health.
Efforts to reach the AHSPC for comment have so far been unsuccessful.
