Expedite Measures To Enable Maize Farmers Get Value And Ready Market
CEO of Maize King Appeals to Government

A/R:Ejura – The Chief Executive Officer of Maize King Mr Boakye Augustine, a leading agribusiness firm, has called on government to fast-track policies and interventions that will guarantee maize farmers fair value for their produce and access to ready markets.

Addressing the media during his visit to Ejura Market, the CEO emphasized that maize remains a critical crop for food security, livestock feed, and industrial use.

Yet, farmers often struggle with unstable prices, post-harvest losses, and limited market linkages.

> “Our farmers work tirelessly, but without structured markets and value-chain support, they are left vulnerable to middlemen and unpredictable demand. Government must expedite measures to ensure maize farmers can sell at fair prices and access reliable buyers,” the CEO stated.

He urged authorities to strengthen storage facilities, improve transportation networks, and establish guaranteed purchase schemes to stabilize the sector.

According to him, such measures would not only empower farmers but also enhance Ghana’s food security and reduce reliance on imports.

Some farmers asserted that maize production has steadily increased but marketing challenges continue to undermine their incomes.

They recommended public-private partnerships to create sustainable value chains and modernize the maize industry.

The CEO concluded by reaffirming Maize King’s commitment to collaborate with government and farmer cooperatives to build a resilient maize sector that benefits producers, consumers, and the national economy.
