St. Joseph Seminary and SHS in Dire Need of Infrastructure, Non-Teaching Staff, and Furniture
The revered St. Joseph Seminary and Senior High School is grappling with severe infrastructural challenges, a shortage of non-teaching staff, and inadequate furniture, according to Rev. Fr. Isaac Osei Mensah the headmaster of the school, who sounded the alarm during a recent sod cutting ceremony for the construction of some projects in the school by the MCE for Asante Mampong .Hon Yakubu Issif
Rev. Fr. Mensah emphasized that while the school continues to uphold its tradition of academic excellence and moral formation, the physical conditions are deteriorating.
Classrooms are overcrowded, furniture is insufficient, and essential facilities such as science laboratories and dormitories are in dire need of renovation.
“Our students deserve a conducive environment for learning.
Without adequate infrastructure and support staff, the quality of education is compromised,” Rev. Fr. Mensah stated.
He continued that Dilapidated classrooms, poor sanitation facilities, and lack of modern laboratories.
Shortage of administrative and support personnel, leading to overburdened teachers,
insufficient desks and chairs, forcing students to share or improvise during lessons.
Rev. Fr. Mensah appealed to government authorities, alumni, and philanthropic organizations to intervene.
He stressed that investment in education is an investment in the future of the nation, and St. Joseph Seminary and SHS must not be left behind.
Community leaders in Mampong echoed his concerns, urging swift action to prevent further decline in standards.
Parents also expressed worry that the current situation could affect students’ performance in national examinations.
