The Asante Mampong campus of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has joined forces with the Mastercard Foundation to provide vital skills training to 200 young people in the municipality.
The initiative was designed to equip participants with practical, employable skills in areas such as entrepreneurship, vocational trades, and digital literacy.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the coordinator for the program Dr Benjamin Danso explained that the program aims to reduce youth unemployment and foster self-reliance among graduates.
He emphasized the university’s commitment to community development beyond academic training. “Our goal is to empower the youth with hands-on skills that can translate into sustainable livelihoods,” he noted.
He expressed optimism that the training would not only benefit the immediate participants but also ripple out to strengthen local businesses and communities.
Several beneficiaries shared their excitement, describing the program as a “life-changing opportunity” that will enable them to start small enterprises or secure better jobs.
The collaboration marks a significant step in bridging the gap between education and employment in Asante Mampong, reinforcing the role of institutions and foundations in shaping Ghana’s future workforce.
