HEAL EJURA PROJECT: MP SPONSORS CATARACT SURGERIES FOR 500 RESIDENTS IN EJURA SEKYEDUMAS
Ejura Sekyedumase, Ashanti Region —
In a powerful demonstration of community-centered leadership, the Member of Parliament for Ejura Sekyedumase Hon Alhajj Bawah Braimah has launched a major health intervention under the “Heal Ejura Project,” sponsoring cataract surgeries for 500 residents across the constituency.
The initiative, which seeks to restore sight and dignity to hundreds of visually impaired constituents, was rolled out in collaboration with a team of ophthalmologists and health professionals from leading medical institutions. Beneficiaries, many of whom had lived with partial or complete vision loss for years, underwent successful surgeries at no cost.
At a ceremony to officially launch the program, the MP emphasized that access to quality healthcare should not be a privilege but a right. “This is not just about restoring sight—it’s about restoring hope, independence, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to society,” he said. “The Heal Ejura Project is our commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind, especially when it comes to health.”
Health officials praised the MP’s initiative, noting that cataract remains one of the leading causes of preventable blindness in Ghana. “This intervention is timely and impactful.“It’s not just a medical procedure—it’s a social and economic game-changer.”
The Heal Ejura Project is expected to continue with additional phases targeting other pressing health needs, including screenings for hypertension, diabetes, and maternal health support.
As the sun sets over Ejura, hundreds of residents now see a brighter future—literally and figuratively—thanks to a vision that goes beyond politics and puts people first.
