GPL 25/26 UPDATE: Coach Didi Dramani, Hearts of Oak should not have been defeated by Asante Kotoko

Hearts of Oak coach Didi Dramani has shared his disappointment after his team’s close defeat to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in Sunday’s Super Clash, asserting that the outcome did not accurately represent the play’s dynamics.
The Phobians suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Porcupine Warriors in their Week 9 match of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, with Guinean striker Morifing Donzo netting the sole goal to secure all three points for Kotoko in the fiercely contested clash between Ghana’s top two successful clubs.
After the match, Dramani reflected on the loss and acknowledged that although his team did not play their best, he believed they had done enough to deserve at least a draw.
Presenting his views, he stressed that the result was tough on his team:
“We were defeated.” I believe we didn’t deserve to be defeated, in my view, and everyone who saw the match, not merely watching. “We struggled in certain aspects, and we must get better,” stated the coach of Hearts of Oak.
He emphasized that the game offered important lessons for both his players and the coaching staff as they aim to recover more robustly in their upcoming match. Considering the broader context, he mentioned:
“The match has concluded; we have gained much insight about ourselves and our rivals.”
The loss signifies that Asante Kotoko continue to be the sole unbeaten team in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, reinforcing their status at the top of the standings.
Hearts of Oak, in contrast, have now experienced their initial defeat of the season, causing them to fall to fifth position in the league rankings.
